What People Are Saying About Yoko's Japanese Restaurant

Went to this place for dinner last week hoping for a good Japanese experience, but it was quite a disappointment. Service was rude, sushi have a smell to it and the conveyor belt sushi looks so unsanitary....still feeling hungry? After reviewing the other 2 Japanese restaurant in town: Deep & Kanpai, both were OK, but very expensive for the meal...and especially at Kanpai, the service people seem so arrogant and just plainly ignore people and go by doing their thing. Don't even try Mio, cheap sushi yes, but very not good and Japanese food is both delicious and a art form. Because of the bad experience at these Japanese restaurant, I almost give up on anything Japanese in Bend, but luckily there is one gem that is yet to be discovery, which is TOMO Japanese / Sushi restaurant located in south end of town in the same complex as Oil Can Henry where the decor, the service, the food presentation are just delicious. They have a great Tatami room for private parties, and the sushi chef actually talk to their customer and the sushi look both beautiful and delicious. If you want good Japanese food and great sushi with an excellent service, you just have to try this place out. Their website is: bendsushi Hope all info help the next Japanese/sushi adventurer.

If you've ever been to a real sushi bar or restaurant this place will disappoint you. First, the servers are not nearly as polite or respectful. They are not rude at all, just nothing like a real Japanese restaurant. For instance, they do not refer to you as "sir" or pour your sake. :-) Second, bring your own chopsticks. They only use splintery, fused together ones. Third, and most damning is that I ordered albacore sashimi and the "chef" gave me seared ahi. When I told my server, they assured me that it was sashimi. Ha! Never go here.

Yoko's is the not the best sushi in town, but it is reasonably priced. The sushi chefs are decent, the fish is pretty good quality. I would skip the stuff on the conveyor belt, though, and order directly from the sushi chef. For comparison, Kanpai is more expensive, but without an increase in quality. Deep is by far the best quality, but you'll pay a lot for it.
