Probably Worst Oatmeal on this earth. Such a simple breakfast---and they blew it big time. The oatmeal had no texture. It was overcooked and mushy. I don't think my dog would even eat it and my lab eats anything. . . disappointed will not return again.

Made-to-order breakfasts---including over a dozen unique flapjacks---stack the odds in this restaurant's favor.. In Short
Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

Best Pancake House anywhere.. Original Pancake House is by far the best breakfast spot in Bend, OR. We have an OPH in Seattle and it pales in comparison. I spoke with the owners and told them that the difference between the two franchise stores is night and day.

OPH in Bend makes EVERYTHING from scratch. The pancakes and omelets are the best you'll ever taste. There's nothing in a package and everything is prepared to order. Some selections take long than others and you can bet that at 10am on a Sat. or Sun., you're gonna wait for a seat.

My wife and I travel to Bend 2x per year, and we always visit OPH as many times as possible. In response to the previous review re: Sodas pop. You have to remember that this is a traditional breakfast house... and if it comes in a bag or a box to be served, you won't find it here.

The owners (their names escape me) work side-by-side with their employees. We've seen little turn over in their employees from year to year.

Whether you're filling up for a day on the slopes or the trails, you can bet that you'll play right through lunch as the portion sizes are large. I usually save half my omelets for lunch if I get hungry... the pancakes will keep you coming back. They're beyond delicious.

A superb breakfast without pretensions but with a high comfort level.. An unsurpassed restaurant for those seeking the kind of breakfast that has seemingly been forgotten. Eggs are always properly done as ordered; the wide selection of pancakes and waffles should satisfy the traditionalist; and the quality of breakfast meats -- especially sausage -- is particularly high. Prices are very reasonable particularly when compared with the inflated rates to which Bend is normally prone.

One should not overlook service that is quick, pleasant without being cloying or condescending, and accurate. This place staff is one of the few with real professions as wait staff members. The high number of people who are evidently "regulars" suggests the kind of positive relationship that develops. It may be the most consistently clean of the Central Oregon places that serve breakfast.

No soft drinks?????. Look, I know that soft drinks are on the same list as cigarettes and alcohol as of late, but I am unfamilialiar with sodas not being availible at ANY restaraunt. I am not a big soft drink fan, but I cannot figure out why sodas would be left off of the menu. If I was concerned about my health then why would I choose a breakfast served at a place called "the pancake house". After all they do place a vat of liquid sugar on the table with every meal, it's called syrup.

In closing, I guess I just want to say it was a poor breakfast expierience and I was unimpressed by the food, the service and the rationed condiments.

What a breakfast!. Great waffles (I had the apple), delicious pancakes, bacon that makes southern bacon look sad and scrawny, and wonderful hash browns. Worth the little extra! Highly recommended!

Fun food. Great food, outstanding bacon, amazing selection. Servers could be a little more polite.
