Greatest Staff In Bend!
by tonygriego
Greatest Staff In Bend! I used to work here, so I am a little baised when I say that. I am talking about being baised when it comes to the food and drink. The staff, is just simply the best part of the pub. The logo, the history, and all else enrichs what a customer's experience is at Deschutes, but the staff IS the experience (if you take a seat at the bar, you'll see what I mean).
The brewmasters live and breathe the beer. Making a fine crafted, great tasting beer isn't rocket science... it's harder; ask any knowledgable beer connoisseur (if you can find one. And I'm not talking about beer geeks- people who try lots of different beers and throw lingo around to sound informed). The brewmasters there take everything into consideration... I am talking about what stage of growth and season the hop was harversted, to the level of heat used to kiln the ingredients. These guys are the sole reason why the Northwest is the mecca of craft beer. I could go on and on. Try the X-tap if want to see what I am talking about.
The lively crew in the kitchen is a skilled ensemble of savvy artists (Try anything on the specials menu to confirm that statement). For the size of the kitchen, food is prepared and sent out in a miraculous amount of time. Old pub favorites like the Spicy Mac and Garlic Burgers are always a good stand-by, safe and comforting to those who enjoy announcing that they'll "have the usual;" but there is such a selection of new and diverse items on the menu everyday, that even the pickiest eater should venture out and enjoy.
In short, if you want a really good experience... go to the pub and order a daily special and recommended beer pairing. If you want a great experience, go down, grab a seat at the L-bar and strike up a conversaiton with the door host. Ask the bar tender about the Yankies. Ask anyone about Mt. Bachelor. Enjoy the food, enjoy the drink, and most important, enjoy the company (staff and clientel alike).
- Pros: Food, Beer, People, Location.
- Cons: Wait times, seating availability.
Best beer

Great for a brew pub. Check out the Black Butte Porter, if you dare. The veggie burger is also really good.
Great beer!

This is our favorite Bend brewery. The service is always great. The food is always worth all the calories. And the Deschutes Brewery beer is always the way to go after our minimal attempt at excise.
- Pros: service, location
- Cons: sometimes the long wait for a table
Best beers, great burgers, the greatest server ever: Missy!

I love the pub for what it is. No, its not a date spot. Not a place to bring stuffy in-laws. It's a warm, casual, cheerful sort of spot. The food is comfortable, nothing too fancy. You can pop in, by yourself, on any given night and are guaranteed to strike up a conversation with an interesting local or geeky tourist. As a female, I have sat many a night at the bar meeting cool people. And the bartenders aren't so bad themselves. In fact, they seem to have a sixth sense about when that barfly has come on to you long enough and casually step in to save you. And if you come in and sit at a table, ask to sit in Missy's section. This girl is so sweet and so cute. But she also knows her sh*t. Got a question about how a beer was made? She knows. Want to know a specific ingredient in a menu item? She knows. Need help deciding? No problem, she's got good suggestions. Want to know where to party after dinner? She'll clue you in on the hot night spots. Sorry guys, she's taken at the moment but she has made every one of my visits to "The Pub" memorable. Thanks Missy!
- Pros: beers (of course), 7 layer dip, burgers
- Cons: long wait on weekends (slip the door staff a twenty..trust me)
Revered for its Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter, it's one of Bend's hottest watering holes.

In Short
Located in downtown Bend, this cozy pub draws locals and adventurous visitors. The menu goes beyond what might be expected from a brewery, offering a plethora of well-crafted salads, burgers, sandwiches and entrees such as baby-back ribs and fish and chips. Thai Wings of Fire are a flaming-hot, red-pepper-packed version of chicken wings, and the jalapeno burger is thick, cooked to order and topped with roasted jalapenos, jalapeno jack cheese and chipotle mayonnaise.
Weekends are pretty busy

But if you are patient, the wait is worth the great beer and the food is pretty decent. If you are expecting peace and quiet, it's not the place for you (when it's packed). A really great place to take your out of town friends and guests that enjoy ales and beer.
- Pros: Good food, service, beer and ale
- Cons: usually pretty busy, can be noisy

Of course the great beer here is worth the visit, however the menu is lacking. It's to be expected of pub food, however Deschutes could have it made if the food was a bit more exciting!
- Pros: Beer, Beer, Beer
- Cons: Same ol' pub food
Great for a late lunch.

Great beer! The food is very good and the menu has specials daily. I particularly like the fresh roasted salsa. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is good.
